April 20th, 2012
In late 2011 Juris Publishing, one of the largest legal publishers in the nation, published Advising Minnesota Corporations and Other Business Organizations, 2nd Ed. Richard Saliterman and Roger Magnuson, Head of National Strategic Litigation for Dorsey & Whitney, are the main authors of the 109 chapter comprehensive business law treatise. Brett Larson, of the firm, was a contributing author and also served as Production Editor. The three volume treatise is the main practice treatise used by lawyers, judges and academicians. The treatise provides general and very specific legal analysis of a wide range of matters, reflecting the broad range of practice areas covered by Saliterman & Siefferman attorneys including business and estate planning, employment law, immigration, banking, and real estate law.
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) refers to any means of settling disputes outside of the courtroom. ADR typically includes arbitration, mediation, early neutral evaluation, and conciliation.
The two most common forms of ADR are arbitration and mediation. Arbitration is a simplified version of a trial. Mediation is an even less formal alternative to litigation. Mediators are individuals who are trained in negotiation and bring opposing parties together to attempt to work out a settlement or agreement that both parties accept.
Two independent factors have given rise to the demand for ADR services in Minnesota:
Saliterman & Siefferman provides qualified mediation and arbitration assistance to clients, out state attorneys, and the courts. Our goal is to achieve fast, equitable resolutions to complex business disputes. For the most complicated disputes between reputable business firms, our experience increasingly demonstrates that ADR can achieve an equitable resolution faster, more cost-effectively, and with greater confidentiality and control. ADR is especially appropriate for resolving disputes between parties who wish to continue their business relationship, such as suppliers, joint-venture and merger partners, subcontractors, and franchisees.
Floyd Siefferman is an American Arbitration Association certified arbitrator with extensive experience serving clients as both counsel and as a neutral arbitrator or mediator. He has over fifty years of experience and over 150 appellate cases in a wide range of practice areas including complex mass disaster litigation, business disputes, and personal injury matters. Due to his experience and expertise, Mr. Siefferman was retained as a consulting expert by the attorneys involved in the 35W bridge collapse case and is routinely consulted by other law firms in complex matters.
